Football Manager is a game of patience, skill and determination. The mission - to get your Conference North side to the Champions League Final. Yes, it can be frustrating at times but it's your world. You have the ability to change the future of postmen around the world.
You can get local lad John Smith to score a last minute winner against Real Madrid to clinch the treble. The scenes.
One young man however has taken management on PC game Football Manager to a whole new level.
19-year-old Alessandro Colombini has made the 3000 mile (5000km) journey from Livorno in Italy to Derry in Northern Ireland to watch The Candystripes play at The Bradywell after he fell in love with the club on Football Manager 2015.
This magnificent story began when Italian Columbini read a book about Bloody Sunday when he was 16, but when he lead Derry City to the Champions League on Football Manager he was determined to visit Derry City, who play in the League of Ireland Premier Division.
After the game, the 19-year-old asked Derry City forward Paddy McElroy for an autograph, the Striker thought he was 'crazy'
Speaking to The Derry Journal about the confrontation with Derry forward McElroy, Alessandro said this:
"I wanted to meet Patrick after the game because I wanted to tell him how good of a player he is for me in ‘Football Manager’. I told him I was from Italy and that he was brilliant in the game. I don’t think he knew how to react but he gave me his autograph and we had a good laugh about it. Paddy looked at me like I was an alien, he must have thought I was mad. undefined"
Unfortunately in Football Manager terms, Alessando has moved on to bigger and better things. Heartbreaking stuff.
"I’ve been managing Derry City in ‘Football Manager’ for the last two or three years. I had my best season last year when I took Derry to the Champions League but AS Roma offered me the chance to come and manage them and as football fans know, when Roma ask, you must answer. undefined"
